Jools Holland introduces this live studio performance by the British singer/songwriter Elvis Costello , who recently celebrated 20 years as a recording artist with his new collection of songs All That Useless Beauty.
The concert features songs from the new album alongside classic Costello compositions like Pump It Up and Watching the Detectives.
Accompanying Costello is his long-serving band the Attractions, the Brodsky Quartet (with whom he recorded the song cycle The Juliet Letter) plus a chamber-jazz septet.

The 1996 BBC Design Awards reach their climax at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow. Over the last few weeks, viewers have voted for their favourite entries in three categories: product design, graphic design, and architecture and environment. The winner of each, the overall BBC Designer of the Year and the design making the best use of technology are all announced in a ceremony hosted by Janet Street-Porter.
