The football season may be over, but World Cup fever is about to break out, and BBC2's themed evening provides the marching-band build-up to the kick-off in America on 17 June.

There's Pele's cup-winning Brazil and the mighty Real Madrid of 1960. The match between Chile and Italy has been placed after the 9pm watershed because of its gratuitous violence, and Paolo Rossi scores that 1982 hat-trick once again. Gazza cries and England win the 1966 World Cup at Wembley.

Plus comedy, George Best, Diana Dors going off the deep end, Nick Hornby, quizzes, reminiscences and a visit to Football Hell. It's an evening of two halves. And a meat pie. And a cup of Bovril.
What's so great about football?
