Remarkable co-operation between yellow mongooses and ground squirrels enables both species to thrive in the arid Kalahari, close to the Namibian-Botswanan border, and their relationship forms the centrepiece of Italian wildlife film-maker Marco Visalberghi's study of this awesome, beautiful but tough environment.

"Thanks to their teamwork the two species can thrive in the same burrow," says series producer John Sparks. "The film reminds me of Meerkats United - it shows how animals can survive harsh conditions and enemies by working together."
The other animals of the Kalahari also feature in the drama - the springbok, lions and jackals trying to make a living from the bone-dry desert. Last in the current series.

Two million Allied soldiers were involved in the invasion of Nazi-occupied France that began on D-Day in 1944. For such an operation, meticulous planning and accurate maps were vital. Usingarchive footage, interviews and the maps themselves, this documentary shows how members of the intelligence agencies and the French Resistance risked their lives.
Maps were created using aerial photographs pieced together, descriptions of distinctive houses, postcards and even holiday snaps of the Normandy coast. But this attention to detail paid off: "Almost every Allied soldier interviewed has commented on the excellence of this preparation, says military historian and presenter Richard Holmes.
