In the fiercely competitive world of Formula 1 there has to be mutual respect between driver and mechanics. "They are the ones that in the end put this thing together, so they have the ability to create and innovate... they are all racers," says Ayrton Senna of his mechanics.
The third programme of the series charting a season in the Grand Prix life of the McLaren motor racing team examines this pit lane and garage relationship. "I like to work with a guy that will race to come first, whether he's got a good car or a mediocre car," is mechanic Dave Crabtree's view of Senna.
The programme shows how the team rebuilt Senna's car in an astonishing two hours for him to triumph in Monaco and their disappointment in France, despite having both cars finish in the points.
