Speaking Out. Half a million stammerers in the UK need help to overcome their speech problem and "at the moment there are pitifully few places for us to go," says Ron Kennedy who stammers himself. In his film, he features stammerers talking about their lives and the everyday situations that can fill them with dread. For the lucky few, successful therapy is an enormous liberation, and Ron Kennedy wants more courses on offer to stammerers of all ages combined with essential back-up treatment. "In my own case", he says, "I just wanted my children to grow up knowing me as a fluent person." Director Jane Gaylard
