A series of personal views on science, medicine and technology.
Time Travel: the Next Frontier
The stuff of science fiction, time travel is gaining converts among serious scientists.
Dr David Deutsch explores old movies and the modern theories of physics to find out under what conditions it would be possible to go back and visit the past. "As a time traveller you won't get any younger," he says, "but you could meet younger copies of yourself."
Not everyone agrees with his thesis.
Professor Stephen Hawking has recently proposed a new law of physics which would outlaw time travel.
