The season of highlights from The Natural World continues with a three-part African odyssey. 1: Footprints in the Valley The earth's crust blisters, cracks and splits apart creating a valley so vast as to be visible from space. It is the most spectacular of African landscapes - plains, massive cliffs, forests and smouldering volcanoes. Each brims with its own special wealth of species - mountain gorillas, black serval cats, and colobus monkeys. A single identifiable part of the planet has never been the scene of such an explosion of wildlife. One animal managed to live in nearly all the new landscapes and adopted an upright posture - man. Narrated by Andrew Sachs.

The sixth of Stuart Hall's seven-part series exploring today's Caribbean.
Daniel Ferrara's wife complains he loves his car more than her. It's a Chevrolet Bel Air from the 1950s, cherished through years of isolation from the USA. Although Fidel Castro has been in power for 30 years, Havana is still filled with relics from the days when it was 'Sin City' for fun-seeking Americans. The links with Uncle Sam continue.
Each morning, a handful of workers travel across the world's largest minefield to their jobs in the American base still perched on Cuban soil, and six nights a week an aircraft takes Cubans to Miami to meet their exiled families.
