Exploring local history in the south and east.
A Seaside Excursion
On the edge of the Norfolk Broads, is Great Yarmouth,
England's third most popular seaside resort. Two million holiday makers and daytrippers visit the town each year. Behind the sea front and the amusement arcades lies a lot of history: medieval town walls, a port that grew rich on herring, a fashionable Georgian health farm, and an indoor Victorian circus. George Parry has been visiting since 1908. His annual excursion follows the development of the town. Narrator: Anthony Hyde. Series producer DENIS MORIARTY Producer HALINA KIERKUC

Abusing the Elderly
'The first time it was just a slap ... then I started hitting her harder to make her do what I wanted. Last Christmas she ended up in casualty - I couldn't help myself.' This testimony is typical of stories told by those carers driven to distraction by the pressures of looking after elderly relatives in their own home. But just how widespread is such abuse of elderly people? Public Eye assesses the evidence and reveals how the caring hand can turn to aggression.

Salif Keita - the golden voice of Mali - is one of the first African world superstars. He can trace his lineage directly back more than 700 years to its founder, the warrior king Sundiata Keita. Salif Keita's story is an exceptional one - not only for breaking away from these traditions, but for overcoming the stigma of being born albino. Arena returns with Salif to his village birthplace in Djoliba, through the insidiously beautiful surrounding plains and to the mystical cliffs of Bandiagara - all sources of his underlying deep spirituality and his haunting music.
