The final televised concert from the Bath International Festival, which this year celebrates the performing arts of America.
From Green Park Station,
Bath Lester Bowie 's Brass Fantasy
From Chicago, trumpeter Lester Bowie leads this virtuoso choir of brass soloists, with percussion, in a programme of inventive arrangements of jazz standards, pop songs and original pieces.
The idea for the Brass
Fantasy goes back 15 years.
Lester says, 'I had an idea for an all-brass group with no saxophones and no keyboards. You see the brass players were overshadowed by the saxophonists for a while in jazz. I wanted to do something to show things you would not normally associate with a trumpet.' Introduced by Michael Berkeley
