The weekly look at the world of information technology with Lesley Judd and Ian McNaught-Davis
This week an examination of the use of computers and microelectronics in the world of medicine - the successes, the failures and the ideas still waiting for trial, including superb new diagnostic tools for the future. But will the NHS be able to afford them? From America, a robot being instructed in plain English might eventually be used to help disabled Vietnam war veterans. And an examination of medical software for the home micro - some of it good and some of it very bad.

Two ballets by Jiri Kylian Torso and L 'Enfant et les sortilèges performed by members of the Netherlands Dance Theatre with Jiri Kylian talking about his ballets.
Ten years separate these two dance works, now seen for the first time on television, during which Kylian, artistic director of the Netherlands Dance Theatre, has established himself as one of the greatest creators of dance of his generation.
Torso, to music by TORU TAKEMITSU , is about exile,
Kylians's own experience as a young man. But this ballet is about a couple in transit and their feelings of dislocation and nostalgia for their homeland.
L 'Enfant et les sortilèges is the magical world of childhood evoked by RAVEL'S setting of a fantasy by COLETTE. 'The bewitched child' is usually performed as a one-act opera. Kylian keeps the score and the sung lyrics, but sets the whole action free by using dancers rather than singers. Torso directed by TORBJORN EHRNVALL
(RM ARTS/SVT 2 production) L 'Enfant et /es sortilèges directed by HANS HULSCHER (RM ARTS/NOS TV production)

and at 10.55 Sawdust and Tinsel
(Gycklarnas Afton)
Starring Harriet Andersson, Ake Gronberg
The down-at-heel Circus Alberti is forced to borrow costumes from a local theatre manager. While Albert toys with the idea of abandoning the Bohemian life for small-town respectability, his mistress Anne is lured into an affair with an unscrupulous actor. With its motifs of sexual betrayal and the role of the artist in society, its striking photography and music, Sawdust and Tinsel is now regarded as a milestone in Bergman's early career.
