Instead, Silva is given six months to crush the Jewish resistance and imports Rubrius Gallus , a siege expert, to help destroy Masada. However, the real obstacles to success prove to be the demoralisation and destruction of the Roman troops by the heat, thirst and the psychological warfare employed by the rebels.
