The Men who Bottled a Cow Around Dr Glyn Vale's Research Station in the African Bush stands an array of bizarre-looking structures of wire, black cloth, netting and string. To the tsetse fly they look and smell like cows. These decoys kill tsetse and they are now being tried out across Africa, for the flies carry a disease fatal to all farm animals. Working in isolation for two decades in what was Rhodesia, Glyn and his colleagues found that most of what the outside world 'knew' about the tsetse was, in fact, wrong.
