Then caring heads just walk away
Happy that they've seen me play.

4: Starlings at Work
This film, made in Holland by Joost Tinbergen , was a strong contender for the Scientific award at last year's Wildscreen Festival.
For six years, Tinbergen conducted a time and motion study on starlings as they raced to rear their nestlings. To do this, he observed one pair from dawn till dusk, and monitored every morsel of food the birds brought back to their young. He discovered that starlings are amazingly efficient foragers.

The Dobrogea region in south-east Romania includes ancient steppe country and the magnificent Danube Delta wetlands. Every winter tens of thousands of visiting wild geese are attracted to the enormous prairie fields of new wheat. A short flight away, hundreds of lakes provide a safe resting place for them.
In summer, these delta waters become a beautiful wildlife paradise, where the great reedbeds provide a secret breeding retreat for the spectacular white pelicans - their last stronghold in Europe.
