Mary [text removed]'s images of motherhood were shattered when she witnessed her beautiful baby daughter having her first epileptic fit.
Successive convulsions left her brain-damaged and in need of constant supervision. Frustrated by the 'experts' who could not agree on a diagnosis, Mary undertook her own studies in psychology which illuminated Anna's condition, but it is from Anna herself that she has leamt most of all.
