Shipwrecked on a tropical island Robinson Crusoe cheerfully adapts to his adventurous new life. As the years pass, however, he becomes increasingly eccentric. The discovery of a footprint in the sand, signalling perhaps the end of his solitude, fills him with rage and panic. Bunuel's compelling film is a masterful blend of adventure, poetry, humour and sentiment.

Luis Bunuel , bom in 1900 in feudal Spain, was one of the great masters of the cinema. From his collaboration with Salvador Dali on Un Chien Andalou in 1928 to his last film That Obscure Object of Desire in 1977, his work was always passionate, subversive and entertaining. Arena goes in search of the spirit of this elusive and original man. With Fernando Rey , Catherine Deneuve , Jeanne Moreau , Carlos Fuentes , Jean-Claude Carriere.
