by Jonathan Kingdon
A cheetah's snarl leaps out of the film into a painting, three pieces of junk turn into a hornbill, and a revolving picture captures the tumbling flight of a lilac-breasted roller.
As both zoologist and artist Jonathan Kingdon challenges our way of looking at animals, and offers new answers to some intriguing questions. Is the zebra striped to dazzle or deceive? How did the elephant 'get his trunk?' Why does the helmeted guinea-fowl wear a mitre? Whether we look at aardvark, giraffe, bat or zebra, our eyes are opened to new ways of seeing.

A Forty Minutes documentary
' There are two teams out there. One is playing cricket. The other is making no effort to play the game.' (BILL WOODFULL, Captain of Australia 1933)
Fifty years ago cricket was riven by an acrimonious feud. The cause of the furore was the determination of England's Captain, Douglas Jardine , to regain the Ashes at any cost. Against Australia's ' run machine ' Don Bradman and the rest of the team Jardine unleashed Harold Larwood , one of the fastest bowlers the world has ever seen. As Larwood scythed through the demoralised Australians' batting there were howls of anguish from cricket lovers, who branded it ' unsportsmanlike '.
The story of that explosive tour is told by some of the men who played through cricket's darkest hour, and the man whose bowling changed the ethics of international cricket for ever, the former Notts miner - Harold Larwood.
