The Benson and Hedges Cup Final Essex v Middlesex
Two of the most successful teams in the country meet in what's sure to be a very competitive final.
MIDDLESEX, the county champions captained this season by Mike Gatting , have an all-round strength which, together with home advantage, may prove decisive. In Cowans, Daniel, Emburey and Edmonds they possess an international attack which has proved almost irresistible this season. ESSEX, who won the cup in 1979, are captained by experienced Keith Fletcher and with Graham Gooch and Ken McEwan in good form this year they have the batsmen who can dominate this 55-overs-a-side final.

Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 3 (first movement)
Robin Ray introduces the first of three masterclasses, each concentrating on a movement of a work which presents one of the most formidable challenges in the entire piano repertoire, but whose appeal remains enormous to pianists and audiences alike. Jorge Bolet, who himself knew Rachmaninov and heard him play his own music, works with the young American pianist Ira Levin and 21-year-old Brazilian Jose Feghali.
