Ten films about development issues in India
1: Call your Centre People for Help
' We felt that if you went into a village and you found that everyone was for your project, the rich and the poor. the exploiter and the exploited, then there was something wrong with the project.' The Centre is in the village of Tilonia in Rajasthan, headquarters of one of the most successful experiments in rural development in India. By concentrating its projects on the poorest, most exploited members of society, especially women, Tilonia has managed to change their lives for the better. But it's also encouraged such people to see that they can change the society in which they live. The film looks at the effect which Tilonia has had on their lives-on the Reser leather war. kers, on the landless Bagrias, on women like Mangi and Naurti.
