An Open Door programme made by the Women's Engineering Society. How many girls do you know who dream of being an engineer? How many little girls do you know who are given construction kits for Christmas instead of dolls? Although increasing numbers of women are becoming professional engineers, there is still only one woman to every 500 men. The reasons aren't hard to find: parents and teachers who don't understand what engineering is, and its dangerous and dirty image, still part of the nation's subconscious! But some of the women who have made it into the world of engineering, and who have made this programme, are spreading the word, dismantling the myth that engineering is unsuitable for a woman.
