The first of seven programmes
Rosemary
Her parents were always, keen traders, ready to sell anything on the farm, from horses to furniture and Rosemary Watson needed only a whiff of the auction marts to decide that she was going to be a cattle dealer. She finds it a lonely job. Farmers are chary, other dealers ' more like sparring partners than friends '. It is, she says ' very much a man s job in a man's world'. Narrator

The Multi-Marathon Man
Earlier this year Ken Heathcote , from Bolton, attempted to run from John o'Groats to Land's End in record time. To break that record he would have to cover the equivalent of three marathons every day for 11 consecutive days. They set off from the tip of Scotland, accompanied by Harold Williamson. Ahead lay 841 miles of desolation, dehydration, hallucination and pain. It was a labour of love and laughter; an experience never to be repeated.
