Featuring motor racing's Formula One World Championship
Last year's event at Jarama was outlawed when the political squabbling within motor sport finally came to a head, but in the unofficial race that followed, an epic duel for the lead resulted in a collision between Jacques Laffite's second-placed Ligier and the leading Williams of Carlos Reutemann.
However, the remarkably consistent Argentine driver failed to finish in a points-scoring position at Monaco three weeks ago, but still heads the drivers table by ten points over team mate and World Champion Alan Jones.

DAVID COLEMAN, with comments from TONY JACKLIN , introduces live satellite coverage of the final round.
The championship was last held at Merion in 1971, when it was won by LEE TREVINO. TOM WATSON has never won the US Open, but the world's most consistent golfer must surely change that state of affairs soon.

Joan Micklin Silver 's first feature length film beautifully re-creates the fascinating crucible of New York's Lower East Side at the turn of the century where Jews fleeing from the pogroms and privations of Eastern Europe experienced the initial stages of their Americanisation. Jake, a brash young Jewish immigrant from Russia, is eventually joined by his wife Gitl and young son. When she proves to be a traditionalist who clings to her orthodox faith and customs, Jake resumes his pursuit of his old girl friend Mamie. But he has reckoned without the catalytic effect of the new environment upon the formerly submissive Gitl ...
