Modern farming has already changed the face of the countryside, leaving villages that no longer need the farmworkers and craftsmen who were once the backbone of the community. How can their local shops, school and services survive?
Angela Rippon and Bernard Price visit the Cotswold village of Blockley, where the temptation to cash in on tourism has been resisted. But if we are to avoid preserving the countryside as a living museum, we have to find the means to revitalise our villages. In a converted silk mill, Angela discusses some of the solutions with the people of Blockley.
