A season of film biographies of artists and musicians. Point Counterpoint
The Life and Works of Georges Seurat written and narrated by DAVID THOMPSON with Henry Moore and Bridget Riley
This film explores the development of one of the most influential Post-Impressionist artists. Seurat's revolutionary approach to painting, the scientific technique of applying paint in small dots which was his hallmark, the beauty of his drawings, and his profound approach to his subject matter, have always made him a force to be reckoned with not only by his contemporaries, but by modern artists like HENRY MOORE and BRIDGET RILEY. With the Cirque Gruss a I'ancienne, Paris

Nine documentary programmes which take a close look at a controversial police force in action. 7: Country Coppers
After the bustle of Hong Kong Island and Downtown Kowloon, the villages and hamlets of the New Territories are oases of calm and order. Crime is not a problem here. But it pays to send out patrols into the hinterland to act as the Government's ears, eyes and PROS.
If all seems calm on the surface there are tensions. The people here. like all Chinese, believe in ' Fung Soy '- the natural balance and harmony of their surroundings. So when a policeman at Lok Ma Chau blows out his brains in a sentry-box, the young British station commander feels compelled to call in the local geomancer to exorcise his police station.

4: Secure in the patronage of the King, Moliere produces one successful play after another, most of them written by himself. He takes on the appearance of a courtier and, becoming too autocratic, he alienates some members of the company. A major crisis arises when the Church and the court arraign him over the ' scandal' of Tartuffe.
