Last year, a Los Angeles based company installed a television, system on the small coral-fringed Pacific island of Yap. The entire population of the island is barely 5,500 and only 300 shacks under the palm trees have electricity ... why should this island need television?
Next year, the island, held in trust by the United States since the war, becomes independent.
Is the television system part of a plan to swamp the island with American values and institutions in furtherance of US strategic interests?

Death to the Tyrant!
A film spectacle based on the fantastic characters of Spain's greatest living artist, Joan Miro.
Mori el Merma! is the result of an unprecedented collaboration between Miro and ' La Claca', a group of young street-theatre players. They wanted to devise a show which would bring to life the weird, magical characters of Miro's paintings. Miro liked the idea, attended rehearsals and worked with the group on the show's huge costumes and masks. The experiment worked. The result was Mori el Merma! - a mixture of pantomime, Punch and Judy and the carnival - but also a fable about tyranny, with marked references to Spain's recent history under General Franco. It was received rapturously in Barcelona and went on to play with great success in London, Paris, Cologne, Milan, New York and even Australia.
Mori el Merma! was filmed last summer in its native Catalonia, using locations in and around Barcelona, expanding and reinterpreting the action of the stage play to suit the medium of film. Narrated by ROBERT CUSHMAN
