Investigates, Discovers, Questions This week:
Thieves on Wheels
The motor car is a push-over for the amateur thief, a dead cert for the professional; this most expensive of possessions - after a house - is protected with the cheapest of locks. Nearly 1,000 cars are stolen every day in Britain and it's getting worse.
On film, Michael Dean follows the trail of these missing cars and talks to a smoothly efficient ' retired' car thief, bewildered victims, unperturbed manufacturers, frustrated policemen and teenage joy-riders. In the studio, Nick Ross asks the experts - a top policeman, the editor of Motoring Which, and a man from the motor trade -how do we stop the stolen car epidemic ...?
