ALEXANDER SKEAPING intended to become a harpsichordist. Instead he became involved in property development. He began with f8,000 and at one time his property value grew to £250,000. He works hard and feels he has contributed to Georgian London by refurbishing old houses. But Skeaping was accused of ' gentrification ' - doing up old houses for well-heeled tenants; reducing the amount of cheap rental accommodation. He was also accused of winkling.
