The first of a short season of films featuring Britain's knights of the stage in some of their most distinguished film performances. Tonight
Michael Redgrave stars with Jean Kent, Nigel Patrick, Wilfrid Hyde White Andrew Crocker-Harris is enduring his last day as classics master at a major public school. The career, begun with such confidence, is ending in disaster and disillusionment. But then a simple farewell gift - the Browning version of the Agamemnon - from one of the boys changes Crocker-Harris's cold reserved outlook on the world and moves him deeply.
