The story of ' Our Man in the Far East,' Anthony Lawrence , who will soon end his long tour of duty as a BBC Foreign Correspondent in Asia.
In this film he looks back on his experiences since his first arrival in 1956. He paints a picture of his growing fascination for the East and of what it has been like to be a British observer reporting the world scene to people at home. The film was made in Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Washington and Paris.

Archie Hill gets up early to find out more about a Black Country-man's working day. He begins in a foundry, similar to one in which he once worked, then goes to a century-old metal workshop, a modern cycle factory and finally does a day's stint with a blacksmith.
