Brasilia, the so-called 'city of the future,' has rapidly evolved from the backlands into the new capital -an incredible display of extraordinary skyscrapers in the middle of a region which, until quite recently, was an uninhabited desert.
The jungle city of Manaus is one of the strangest, most fascinating, most haunted places man has made for himself to live in. It is an island in a sea of vegetation, 750 million acres of what a Brazilian writer called the inferno verde, the green hell - and yet incredibly her citizens were once convinced that Manaus would become the capital of Brazil.
