Tonight The John Dankworth Orchestra
with Cleo Laine
The first half of tonight's programme features two items by the band; the first one, 'David and the Bloaters,' is from a collection of pieces John wrote based on Dickensian characters, and the second, 'Don the Dreamer,' is from the recent LP Windmill Tilter' which the John Dankworth Orchestra recorded, featuring the compositions of one of the finest young jazz musicians in this country, Kenny Wheeler.
The rest of the programme features the marvellous singing of Cleo Laine in a short selection of classical material.

Tonight's film in this new season of outstanding films of the past 10 years stars James Stewart, Maureen O'Hara
with Fabian, John Saxon
Two generations of stars are featured in this 1962 production from 20th Century-Fox. James Stewart plays the hapless Mr Hobbs in fine laconic style - a banker who discovers the perils of a family vacation by the seaside in a broken-down villa with a large and fractious family. It turns out to be a holiday that no one will ever forget!

After a special meeting in the Hague, Britain should now know what our chances of getting into Europe are.
So tonight in a special film edition Europa looks at how other countries in Europe view the Common Market. We go to Denmark and Sweden, who, like us, are 'out,' at the moment. Then to Luxembourg, the most integrated of the Six, to see how the Common Market has affected its daily life.
