The 1955 Lions won 9-0, the 1962 Lions won 14-6; but players from both these tours would be quick to remind you of how hard they had to fight for those victories. The game is played at Windhoek, the capital of the former German territory, where the problem of altitude (5,500 feet) is not as severe for the Lions as when playing on the high veldt.
South-West Africa is a comparatively young member union of the South African Rugby board, but has produced in those few years a rugby team of strong and skilful players, dedicated to a hard fast-handling game. This is the ninth match for the 1968 Lions, who still have eleven matches to go before returning at the end of July.
