1/5. As part of Black History Month, Donald Macleod investigates the music of perhaps the most influential jazz musician of the 20th century, Miles Davis , who changed the course of jazz numerous times during his 46-year career. He begins by focusing on Davis's earliest works, written for his collaborations with Charlie Parker , and on his friendship with Gil Evans, which led to the trail-blazing disc Birth of the Cool and the first tentative steps that ultimately led to the bestselling album Kind of Blue. Music includes Milestones, Half Nelson, Boplicity, Budo, Serpent's Tooth, Weirdo and All Blues.
