Charles Shaar Murray continues his exploration of the influence of jazz on the music of Frank Zappa , who died ten years ago. He focuses on the role of the star sidemen used by Zappa in creating his music. Featuring interviews with many of these musicians, including Arthur Barrow ,

Le Roi Arthus
A centenary production of Chausson's dramatic opera from La Monnaie in Brussels where it was first performed.
The legend of the noble King Arthur and the fated love of Lancelot and Guinevere fascinated Chausson throughout his life, and he plays out the conflict in music of great power and luminosity. Presented by Stephanie Hughes.

London Jazz Festival
Sarah Walker presents Big Noise, a collaboration between UK-based ensemble Icebreaker and the Orkest de Volharding from the Netherlands as they embark on their Contemporary Music Network tour.
Featuring fourfirst performances, including Radio 3 commissions by Joe Cutler (Jack the Diamond's Jamming Station) and Yannis Kyriakides (Lab Fly Dreams), and new works by Dutch composers Cornells de Bondt and Diderik Wagenaar.
