London Jazz Festival: The Art of Fugue
A concert by one of Britain's most versatile pianists, Joanna MacGregor , directing the Britten Sinfonia with guests
Andy Sheppard (saxophones) and Shri Shram (tablas). The programme includes
MacGregor's arrangements of eleven compositions by cult New York street musician and composer Louis Hardin , also known as Moondog, and movements from Bach's late and incomplete masterpiece The Art of Fugue, BWV1080. Plus a performance of Stravinsky's dazzling re-creation of the Baroque concerto grosso, the Concerto in E flat (Dumbarton Oaks). Presented by Mark Russell.
Recorded on Saturday at the Royal Festival Hall, London.
