One of the world's greatest orchestras comes to the Proms for the first of two concerts under the baton of its new chief conductor, Simon Rattle. On the programme, Bartok's eerie masterpiece, Ligeti's dazzling concerto, and one of the seminal works of the 20th century - Stravinsky's savage ballet, The Rite of Spring.

Professor Stephanie Jordan and Dr Larraine Nicholas have been trying to track down all the choreographic treatments of Stravinsky's music for the online database Stravinsky the Global Dancer, and have traced over 1,000 so far. Christopher Cook puts the database through its paces and learns the answers to such questions as, how many versions of the Circus Polka are there? And was the first version really made for elephants?
