Piers Lane presents the second of two programmes about pianist Benno Moiseiwitsch , who became a British citizen shortly before the Second World War, when he endeared himself to the British public by giving over 800 concerts in bombed-out halls and during air raids. In today's programme, Liszt's transcription of Wagner's overture to
Tannhauser and Beethoven's Emperor concerto, recorded shortly before Moiseiwitsch's death in 1963.
