Benno Moiseiwitsch. Piers Lane presents the second of two programmes about pianist Benno Moiseiwitsch , who became a British citizen shortly before the Second World War, when he endeared himself to the British public by giving over 800 concerts in bombed-out halls and during air raids. In today's programme, Liszt's transcription of Wagner's overture to
Tannhauser and Beethoven's Emperor concerto, recorded shortly before Moiseiwitsch's death in 1963.
Moiseiwitsch is featured in the series of BBC Legends CDs available in record shops
