Ibrahim recalls his early association with saxophonist Kippie Moeketsi in the Jazz Epistles, his move to Zurich and his first meeting with Duke Ellington, who was to become his mentor and champion. Featuring excerpts from the BBC archive of a concert Ibrahim gave at the Royal Festival Hall in 1987 with his group Ekaya, which included Carlos Wood (alto saxophone/flute), Ricky Ford (tenor saxophone), Charles Davis (baritone saxophone), Timothy Williams (trombone), Michael Bowie (bass) and Winnard Harper (drums).
In the final concert from last year's jazz series given at London's Wigmore Hall, Julian Joseph is joined by South African pianist Bheki Mseleku , who spent his early days in Sweden working with trumpeter Don Cherry and bassist Johnny Dyani before moving to England in 1987.
