The programme includes a recording of his song cycle The Land of Lost Content, with tenor Peter Pears , and the Piano Concerto with Eileen Joyce and Malcolm Sargent. Bach Cities: Leipzig and Dresden. In his final years, Bach devoted his composing energies to extended works such as the B Minor Mass and The Art of Fugue. But as a performer, he was busy giving regular concerts of smaller-scale pieces. Joshua Rifkin traces the story of Bach's last period and looks for answers to the many questions about Bach's life, his personality and his music in the churches, palaces and coffee houses of Leipzig and Dresden.
