The Importance of Being Earnest or "A Trivial Comedy for Serious People" by Oscar Wilde.
It was in the summer of 1894, while on holiday with his family in the town of Worthing, that Wilde wrote the play which many consider to be his comic masterpiece. Many of its lines have become part of modern British folklore and it remains one of the best-loved plays in British theatre.

Paul Guinery introduces a seasonal sequence of motets and choral cantatas by Francis Poulenc. In 1938, two years after his return to the Catholicism of his youth, he began his powerful Penitential Motets. During the Second World War there followed his masterpiece Figure Humaine (1943) and Un Soir de Neige (1944), also to a text by Paul Eluard.
