Afterthe failure of his marriage to cellist
Peers Coetmore , EJ Moeran finally settled in Kenmare on the west coast of Ireland. His inspiration all but dried up as his drinking worsened, and he composed virtually nothingduring the last year of his life. But his popularity in Kenmare was, and still is, legendary. When he died in December 1950 the whole town turned out for a traditional Irish funeral.

Jimmy Smith. Julian Joseph presents the music of Hammond organ star Jimmy Smith , who made a series of classic albums forthe Blue Note label during the late 1950s and early 1960s with the likes of Stanley Turrentine and Grant Green. In 1965 the BBC recorded Jimmy Smith with his trio, which included guitarist Quentin Warren and drummer Billy Hart.
