3: The Italian Community. Kirsteen McCue continues her exploration of music composed during the period of the Enlightenment in Edinburgh. The great castrato Tenducci and the composers Barsanti and Viotti performed in Edinburgh and the fashion forthings Italian was even blended with a passion for traditional folk songs through composers such as Geminiani.

A performance of Welsh National Opera's new production of Benjamin Britten 's chamber opera The Turn of the Screw, given at the New Theatre, Cardiff, last week. This taut drama, which Britten and his librettist Myfanwy Piper crafted from Henry James 's ghost story, is set in an isolated country house in the east of England.
Presented by Huw Tregelles Williams in conversation with John Crowley , who explains how he has attempted to convey the drama of the piece in this, his first opera production.
