Isabel Hilton meets New Zealand novelist, poet and literary critic GK Stead , whose latest novel, Talking about 0'Dwyer, is based on a true story about a soldier's suspicious death and about his cursed commanding officer in the notorious Maori battalion duringthe battle for Crete in the Second World War. He talks to Isabel Hilton about the book and his lifelong exploration of the culture and psychology of living and writing on the opposite side of the world.
