The Music of Benjamin Frankel
Frankel is perhaps best known as one of Britain's leading composers of film music, but later in his career he turned to composing for the concert hall, with as many as eight symphonies to his credit. To mark the 25th anniversary of the composer's death, Chris de Souza recalls Frankel's career, with excerpts from some of the film scores, the Serenata Concertante for piano trio and orchestra, chamber works, and Frankel himself conducting one of his own symphonies. The programme also includes recordings of the voice of Benjamin Frankel , an engaging broadcast speaker on musical subjects. Producer Peter Tanner
