Uncle and nephew, Louis (c 1626-61) and François (1668-1733) Couperin were the two most famous members of a musical dynasty that can be traced back to the 16th century and lived on into the late 19th.

Paul Guinery looks at their world, focusing on the chamber music and harpsichord pieces of Francois Couperin - works which include musical portraits of the composer's family and friends and the Versailles courtiers. The programme includes selections from the 15th order of his Pieces de Clavecin played by Christophe Rousset , the trio sonata La Superbe played by Capriccio Stravagante, and the Concert Royal No 1 in G played by the Smithsonian Chamber Players.
