Michael Berkeley 's guest is Timothy Garton Ash , an eminent commentator on European politics. In the 1980s, he chronicled the break-up of Communism in central Europe, and his most recently published book,
The File, tells how he found himself marked down by the Stasi as a British spy during the Cold War. His musical choices have a very personal significance, ranging from ancient Polish sacred music to Schubert's
Erlkonig and Smetana's Vltava. Executive producer Wendy Thompson Repeated tomorrow 6.30pm

The sixth of eight programmes in which David Mellor celebrates musical personalities from the past. Too Many Teachers? Never!
