1: Farewell to the Good Wines ofLaon
The 15th century was a remarkably creative period in musical history. In England, composers of international reputation such as John Dunstable emerged for the first time; in northern France and Flanders,
Guillaume Dufay , Gilles Binchois and many others carried forward a tradition of polyphonic songs and masses with such success that their music was avidly copied far away in Italy. Christopher Page follows Dufay southward across the Alps, with performances by Gothic Voices of his songs Quel Fronte Signorille , Mon Cuer Me Fait and Adieu Ces Bons
Vins de Lannoys, and celebratory motets sung by the Hilliard Ensemble and the Orlando Consort. Repeated from last Monday
