Radio 3's platform for outstanding young musicians returns for its fifth series. Many performers from previous years have gone on to enjoy major careers, and another wide-ranging crop of talent populates this six-part series. This opening programme features the most recent winner of the Kathleen Ferrier Award , a former Young Musician of the Year, and a Baroque ensemble performing some recently discovered Handel. Tito Manlio
The UK premiere of one of Vivaldi's most colourful operatic scores, apparently written in only five days to celebrate a wedding and first performed in 1719. The complex, three-act plot centres around the rivalry between the Romans and Latins during the time of the Roman Republic. This concert performance was given in July at the Royal College of Music in London.
