From the Royal Albert Hall, London. Tonight, two songs from the earth reflecting nature through all its seasons and in all its glory. Beethoven's sensitive portrait of the countryside integrates birdsong, peasant dancing and storms into a highly sophisticated symphony, while Mahler's song-cycle ventures deep into nature to reveal the fundamental issues of life and death.
