A major Proms retrospective of the music of Bartok begins tonight with a rare chance to hear the full version of his ballet The Wooden Prince. From the same Hungarian roots comes Haydn's skilful symphony, which incorporates stagecoach horn calls. The centrepiece is Mozart's evergreen Clarinet Concerto.
