That William Fox, now 87 years old, became the first specialist science and industry journalist, and as such was present at some of the most exciting events in the 1920s - like the first attempted night flight to Paris; some of the earlier King's Cup Races: two more 'firsts' - the transatlantic telephone link-up and the transatlantic television transmission (in which William Fox was the star performer); and the launch of the airship R101. His experiences culminated in the collaboration with Baird and his pioneering work on television, which led to the eventual acceptance of television as a practical medium. Presenter Roger Cook.
